The National Student Survey (NSS) 2017 results have been published and at least 80% of Heriot-Watt students are satisfied overall with their course in 14 of our 21 subject areas.
The University is committed to creating the best student experience possible.
Mechanical Engineering and Planning are both ranked in the UK top 10. Chemistry and Mechanical Engineering are both ranked top in Scotland, whilst Mathematics & Statistics is 2nd in Scotland. There is also good news for Economics and in Civil Engineering, where 92% and 91 % of students respectively said they were satisfied overall with their course.
The results come as the University is undertaking a significant programme of investment to enhance student-facing services. These include the alteration and refurbishment of the James Watt Centre into a modern state of the art learning and teaching facility, the modernisation of the Student Services Centre, the development of a training room for Assistive Technology and a £6m refurbishment project for the library. In parallel to these major projects, work is underway across the University to upgrade Learning and Teaching spaces.
Professor John Sawkins, Deputy Principal, Learning and Teaching, said, “The University is committed to creating the best student experience possible by ensuring that the learning and teaching environment we offer has the most up to date technologies and facilities. Our existing and future students will greatly benefit from the investment we are making and it will further enhance our position as a world leading institution”
