We would like to wish a very Happy New Year to all of Heriot-Watt University's Chinese friends in Scotland and around the world.
As the lunar calendar shifts from the Year of the Monkey into the Year of the Rooster, Heriot-Watt University would like to send its greetings and best wishes for the Chinese New Year to everyone, particularly Chinese students studying at the UK, Malaysia and Dubai Campuses.
We are celebrating the Year of the Rooster with a concert at the Edinburgh Campus on 7 February organised with the support of the Confucius Institute. The programme features musicians from Tianjin University of Finance and Economics, our partner university at the Confucius Institute, who are making a return visit following the success of last year's concert.
The group, named Rainbow Melody, will be performing traditional Chinese music played on the bamboo flute, Chinese violin, zither, lute and other stringed instruments. Free tickets can be booked for the concert.
The theme for our celebration is the strengthening partnership between China and Europe, and we are looking forward this year to developing the links between Scotland and China, particularly as Scotland celebrates 2017 as the Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology, and the University's School of Social Sciences launches its MSc in Tourism and Heritage Management.
祝大家新年快乐,恭喜发财!
