Heriot-Watt University Malaysia hosts the M100 Challenge

Heriot-Watt University Malaysia hosted the #M100Challenge by GTI Media, of of Asia’s leading graduate careers and education media company with roots in the UK.

The #M100Challenge is the perfect avenue for employers and students to cross paths. Participating employers are able to scout for the right talent based on non-academic performance such as participants’ skills, competencies, fitness and teamwork as a basis.

This edition of the M100 Challenge in collaboration with Heriot-Watt University Malaysia was graced by the Chief Assistant Director of the Industrial Relations Department from the Ministry of Higher Education, Encik Shahrul Nizam; Mr Isaac Hee, Managing Director of GTI Media; and Professor Mushtak Al-Atabi, CEO and Provost of Heriot-Watt University Malaysia.

Sponsors for the day were Golden Screen Cinemas, KL Photobooth and Heriot-Watt University Malaysia, Gamuda Berhad, Pappa Delivery, Vinda Group Southeast Asia, and Yeo’s sponsored the goodie bags for the race participants.

We had twelve (12) participating employers with various mental and physical challenges at their respective booths: Astro, AXA Affin General Insurance, Gamuda Berhad, Great Eastern Life Assurance, GTI Media, HiredNow, Panpages Berhad, RHB Bank, S P Setia Berhad, Teach for Malaysia, Vinda Group Southeast Asia and Yeo’s.

Of the 30 participating teams, the winning team took home the grand prize of RM3,000 in cash. The first and second runners-up were rewarded with RM2,000 and RM1,000 respectively. Other cash and merit prizes were also awarded to the other winning teams. Heriot-Watt University Malaysia students were part of the teams who won Best Teamwork, Best Team Cheer, Best Wefie as well as Best team overall.

The employers were impressed with the quality of team performance whereas the students gained an invaluable experience.
