Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan congratulates Heriot-Watt University Dubai graduands.

His Excellency Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, United Arab Emirates, attended Heriot-Watt University Dubai Campus' 2017 graduation ceremony at Intercontinental Hotel, Dubai Festival City and lauded the progress and efforts of the graduands in demonstrating the advances in academia in the UAE.

You will be competing in a global society. You graduates know the feel of that global society because you yourselves represent thirty-seven different countries.

Addressing the graduands he said, “As you move from Heriot-Watt's handsome Dubai campus to sites of new work or further study, you will need all the energy, mental agility, and perseverance that you can muster.  You will be competing in a global society.  You graduates know the feel of that global society because you yourselves represent thirty-seven different countries.  You have studied in the global society that is the United Arab Emirates. You have already recognized the necessity and the advantages of pursuing excellence, seeking to shape the future, looking outward, having pride and a sense of belonging, valuing and respecting others, the very values espoused by Heriot-Watt.”

Honorary graduate

Alsomt 300 students graduated at the ceremony and were also praised for their efforts by Emad Azmy, President, Al Shafar General Contracting (ASGC). Mr. Emad Amzy was awarded an honorary degree at the ceremony in recognition of his significant contribution to the construction industry within the UAE and his ongoing connections and support of the University's Dubai Campus.
