Heriot-Watt University has been named one of the top five universities in Scotland by the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2018.
The University is also ranked in the top 40 universities in the UK by the prestigious awards, which are regarded as one of the most authoritative in the UK.
Professor Richard A Williams, Principal and Vice-Chancellor, said: “Making the top five spot in Scotland is a credit to all our students and hard-working staff, whose dedication has helped us gain this recognition.
This affirms our standing as a top quality international University known for exceptional teaching and learning opportunities and world-leading research.
The latest results come just weeks after Heriot-Watt entered the Academic Ranking of World Universities top 500 universities for the first time, and was also placed in the top 400 universities in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings.
Five subjects in the UK Top 10
In the individual subject tables, we are ranked in the UK top ten for five subjects: Building at third place, Chemical Engineering at fifth place and General Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Town & Country Planning at eight place.
Top in Scotland for three subjects
The University has three subjects ranked 1st in Scotland:
- Building
- Chemical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
Five subjects ranked 2nd or 3rd in Scotland
We are ranked 2nd in Scotland for General Engineering and Town & Country Planing, 3rd for Art & Design, German and Mathematics.
We are also ranked joint 11th in the UK and joint 1st in Scotland, along with University of St Andrews, for graduate salaries six months after graduation.
