Heriot-Watt University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dubai Electronic Security Center, aimed at accelerating research an innovation in information security for the protection of information, telecommunications and government information systems.
Information and telecommunications security is of critical importance to the growth of the private and public sectors in the UAE, and businesses will benefit from our cooperation.
The MoU was signed by Professor Ammar Kaka, Vice-Principal, Heriot-Watt University Dubai Campus, and H.E Yousef Hamad Al Shaibani, Chief Executive Officer of Dubai Electronic Security Center, in the presence of delegates from both organizations.
It included future participation in workshops, conferences, seminars and training courses as well as cooperation in a range of initiatives and programs, raising awareness about cyber security. It also covered the provision of new opportunities for training and research to develop cyber security solutions, internet protection and digital criminal science for security projects in the country as well as mutual cooperation with international institutions in the field of cyber security.
H.E Yousef Hamad Al Shaiban noted, “Building such relations with the universities will improve the cyber security research and development areas in UAE. We will also develop internal capabilities within the country that will meet our business demands.”
Professor Ammar Kaka said, “Academic institutions play a vital role in supporting all sectors and we are proud to be working with Dubai Electronic Security Center. Information and telecommunications security is of critical importance to the growth of the private and public sectors in the UAE, and businesses will benefit from our cooperation thanks to our research and information exchange with Dubai Electronic Security Center.”
