Dubai campus wins top energy efficiency award

Students and teachers from Heriot-Watt’s Dubai campus are celebrating after winning a top environmental award.

The University picked up the DEWA Conservation Award for Educational Institutions that Implemented Energy Efficient Technologies.

The Dubai campus were one of several institutions in the country that have contributed to saving 157 gigawatt hours in power and 1.4 billion gallons in water since 2007.

The figures were released during the 11th Conservation Awards for 2016-2017, which honoured educational establishments for their contributions to making Dubai a city of sustainability.

Abdullah Al Karam, director-general and chairman of the Board of Directors of Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) said: “Our children are the leaders of the future and the foundations of sustainable development.

"They will ensure a better life for the generations that will follow them, and contribute to making the UAE the best country in the world.”
