Delegates from around the world gathered at Heriot-Watt's Edinburgh Campus for the 49th Annual Conference of the British Accounting and Finance Association (BAFA).

The delegates enjoyed a showcase of innovative research and teaching in accounting and finance at Heriot-Watt, ranked number one in Scotland for Accountancy and Finance in the Guardian University Guide.

The 360 delegates included industry experts from the accounting profession representing organisations such as CIMA, CPA Australia, ICAS, ICAEW and Bloomberg, as well as academics and doctoral students from Australia, Ireland, Europe, South-east Asia, Africa, Middle-East and the UK.

Amongst those presenting papers were Zayyad Abdul-Baki and Mercy Denedo, PhD students in Heriot-Watt's Department of Accountancy and Finance.

Senior academics from the School of Social Sciences also made important contributions, with Head of School Professor Robert Macintosh opening the main conference and Professor of Finance Andrew Adams, and Professor of Accountancy Roszaini Haniffa chairing panel sessions and doctoral masterclasses.
