Heriot-Watt has risen three places to 34th in the UK in the 2017 Complete University Guide. In Scotland the University is fourth, after St Andrews, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Key factors in the University's success in this league table were rises in our Graduate Prospects,  Student-Staff Ratio, Academic Services Spend, Facilities Spend and Good Honours, the proportion of graduates receiving a first or upper second honours degree.

We are ranked in the top ten in the UK for Building, Town & Country Planning, Chemical Engineering and Art & Design.

Within Scotland, we are first in both Building and Town and Country Planning, second in Art and Design (behind Edinburgh) and third in both Chemical Engineering (behind Edinburgh & Strathclyde) and Mechanical Engineering (behind Strathclyde & Edinburgh).
