Internationally acclaimed fashion designer Manish Arora, fresh from his runway show in Paris, has visited Heriot-Watt's School of Textiles and Design at the Scottish Borders Campus meeting with students and presenting a special lecture in which he shared his experiences and insights about the industry and his own journey.

Mr Arora exhibits New Delhi designed and made collections twice a year at the Paris Prêt-à-Porter (ready to wear) shows. A pop music favourite, Kay Perry, Lady Gaga, M.I.A., RKA Twigs and Rhianna have worn his dresses.

During his tour of the School, students had the chance to meet Mr Arora, show their work and talk about their aspirations. Later he went to a personal appointment at the Heriot-Watt Textile Archive.

As well as his highlight lecture he also showed videos of two shows as well as his prize winning short film Holi Holy. One video was his most recent Autumn/Winter Show 2016 called Hells Belles, but dubbed by Europe press Haribo sweets meets TV show Twin Peaks. Students were inspired by his dynamic use of psychedelic colours, rich decoration and quirky pop culture imagery.

As well as meeting with students and hearing about their own work he invited students to apply for internships with his company based in New Delhi. Directors of Study from the six undergraduate programmes also met with him to discuss potential future projects.
