We are determined to develop our influence and reputation as a powerful driver and engine of the economy, addressing societal challenges and needs.
This new Assistant Principal role has been created to provide support to the University's senior management team in relation to the development of major strategic projects and related educational and research policy internationally, in the UK and in Scotland. Mr Pacitti will take up the position in May.
The University has plans to develop new research, enterprise and educational platforms across its activities in UK, Dubai and Malaysia, in particular projects involving the development of partnerships and industrially-connected global themes.
Mr Pacitti, himself a graduate of Heriot-Watt in mechanical engineering, moves to the new role from his former position as Project manager of the Textiles Futures Forum. He has experience in both the public and the private sector, including business development, investment, innovation, sales and consulting.
Professor Richard A. Williams, Principal of Heriot-Watt University, said, “We are delighted to welcome Joe Pacitti to our senior management team. Heriot-Watt has an ambitious growth strategy, building on our already successful global developments and international research. We are determined to develop our influence and reputation as a powerful driver and engine of the economy, addressing societal challenges and needs.
“I believe that Joe's range of knowledge and experience make him ideally places to support our team to influence policy and create valuable partnerships.”
Joe Pacitti said, “I am delighted to be part of the team to support and further develop Heriot-Watt in its global position. The role will draw upon existing networks and create new ones as the University innovates and develops its offering to meet growing complex and new global market demands.”
