We would like to wish a very Happy New Year to all of Heriot-Watt University's Chinese friends in Scotland and around the world.
We are celebrating the Year of the Monkey with a concert at the Edinburgh campus on 23 February organised with the support of the Confucius Institute. The hour long programme features the Heriot-Watt Chamber choir and musicians from Tianjin University of Finance and Economics, our partner University at the Confucius Institute.
The theme for our celebration is the partnership between China and Europe and the choir will sing songs by composers from around the world and our Chinese guest musicians will play traditional Chinese music. The event is sold out but we plan to film it and make this available on the University website so everyone can enjoy listening to the music.
In Malaysia a number of different events have been organised by the Chinese Cultural Society to celebrate the New Year. These include a Chinese New Year food booth featuring traditional dishes from the sky, the sea and the earth, a Lion dance and a Grand Shanghai Student dinner on the 26 February.
Principal Williams has also filmed a New Year message.
We hope you enjoy the celebrations at our campuses and wish you a most happy, successful and prosperous year of the Monkey.
希望大家可以快快乐乐地过个年。祝愿大家猴年大吉大利,恭喜发财!
