Heriot-Watt University Malaysia (HWUM) has hosted a two day Volunteer Weekend, organised by Yayasan Sukarelawan Siswa (YSS or the 'Students Volunteers' Foundation') under the patronage of the Ministry of Higher Education.
Close to 1,000 members of the public attended the event including primary, secondary and special education students from public schools around the Putrajaya and Sepang, along with their parents. They took part in workshops including a science and the environment fair, mobile clinics, free health and dental checks, a Robot Connecting People Competition and a breast cancer awareness campaign.
Dato' Seri Haji Idris bin Jusoh, the Minister of Higher Education, visited the event together with several key members of government agencies and University staff.
The Volunteer Weekend events were supported by members of the local community as well as Heriot-Watt students.
