The School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences set the students a series of challenges to test their skills as well as increase their awareness, interest and enthusiasm around the subject of computer programming.

Steve Gill, academic head, School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences at the Dubai Campus, said, “There was a 22 per cent increase in the number of students participating in the challenge from last year, as well a 71 per cent increase in the number of schools enrolled. These figures show that there is a clear desire to develop computer programming skills and it goes to demonstrate that the STEM initiatives being promoted in the country are really taking shape.

“It is important to understand the ways in which computer programming can be used in creative ways that create functional, intuitive and fun programmes for a range of uses. The students have shown real talent here today and I congratulate all the participants not just the winners.”
