Professor T Malcolm Chrisp has been appointed as the new Head of the School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society (EGIS) at Heriot-Watt.
Professor Chrisp graduated at Newcastle University and took his MSc at Bristol. Following a period of professional practice with international civil engineering groups, including Taylor Woodrow, Mott MacDonald and Balfour Beatty, he joined Heriot-Watt in 1991 as a lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering. After completing a PhD he became Director of Quality and then Director of Learning and Teaching in the School of the Built Environment and more recently within EGIS. He was appointed Professor in 2009.
Professor Chrisp said, “I am delighted to be appointed Head of School. I am looking forward to working with academics and support staff to form a strong collegiate family following recent developments within the School.
“As research agendas focus on interdisciplinary solutions to major world issues such as energy, water, food and shelter, the School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society is well positioned to respond strongly and to help these global issues.”
Professor Chrisp will be taking up the post on 1 October 2016 for an initial period of two years.
