Professor Garry Pender FREng has been appointed as Heriot-Watt's Deputy Principal, Research and Innovation.
Professor Pender has been Head of the School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure & Society and involved in the leadership of the University since 2008.
This experience and his own leading academic research and experience make Professor Pender ideally placed to lead and drive the delivery of research excellence, intensity and innovation across the University's global operations. He will also be working as part of a team to develop Heriot-Watt's global strategic partnerships with academia, government, industry and commerce.
Professor Pender takes up his appointment on 1 October 2016.
