Heriot-Watt is a global university with strong and abiding links across Europe and the rest of the world. We are proud that since our foundation in 1821 we have been outward looking pioneers of education and in the pursuit of knowledge and to the benefit of our students we have expanded the work we do across the globe.

Nearly a third of our Scottish campus students come from abroad, and of those nearly one in ten of them are from Europe. They enrich our warm and friendly communities in Scotland and provide a truly vibrant and global experience enjoyed by all of our students. We also know that our students value the opportunity to travel and study with our partners and at our campuses in Dubai and Malaysia. This life-enhancing experience is a key feature of their time at Heriot-Watt, helping them and all our students to develop as culturally aware citizens of the world.

Our academic staff are leaders in their field. We are proud to say that they come not just from across Europe but from around the world to contribute to our inter-disciplinary community of scholars. At Heriot-Watt they develop ground-breaking research and practical solutions to real world problems and we are committed to continuing to employ the best, most talented academics from across the globe.

We also have very many professional and support staff who are the foundation of our campus communities. They have a vital contribution to play in delivering the inclusive and high quality experience enjoyed by all who visit, work and live on our campuses.

The decision by the UK electorate to leave the European Union has not changed our mission. Nor has it curbed our enthusiasm to continue to work with partners in Europe and beyond. We remain committed to providing our European and international students with the traditional warm welcome associated with Heriot-Watt and Scotland. Our talented academics will also continue to deliver their world-leading research working with our European and international partners.

Heriot-Watt is proud to be a global university, a community of scholars welcoming all those who can contribute to our work and society.
