Work has started on new residences at Heriot-Watt University’s Edinburgh Campus. The £20m, 450 bed person build will be a mix of five person flats and studio apartments, all with en-suite rooms. It is the second phase of new residence development at the Campus.
Designed by architects Fletcher Jones, the residences will be constructed by Watkins Jones, the first time that Heriot-Watt has taken the Developer Contract route.
The ground breaking ceremony was performed by Heriot-Watt Principal Professor Steve Chapman. He said, “This is the second ground breaking ceremony in a week at our Edinburgh Campus, and demonstrates the University’s continued drive for development in terms of support for both our academic research and the student experience.”
The residences are scheduled for completion in mid-2016.
