Principal visits Orkney Campus

Heriot-Watt Principal Professor Steve Chapman has visited the Orkney Campus as part of his series of staff briefings, as well as meeting with students and local stakeholders.

ICIT 25th Anniversary

His talks referred to the recent celebration of 25 years of the International Centre for Island Technology (ICIT)/Heriot-Watt in Orkney as well as more recent developments, including a £225,000 investment in the infrastructure of the Orkney Campus and plans for the future of ICIT.

He also announced £100,000 worth of studentships, focussed on international students.

Professor Chapman also met with Scottish Secretary Alistair Carmichael MP and Liam McArthur MSP, and following the staff briefing he spoke to external stakeholders including OIC Chief Executive Alistair Buchan, Councillor Andrew Drever, Councillor James Stockan, Councillor Janice Annal, Councillor Leslie Manson, Councillor Rob Crichton and local business representatives.

In the evening Professor Chapman joined staff and students for a Burns Night celebration at the Royal Hotel in Stromness.
