Dr. Mohammed Al Barwani – an outstanding leader in Oman’s Oil & Gas industry – was hosted at a specially convened Heriot-Watt University Dubai Campus forum on Tuesday 26 May.
The open forum was an opportunity for the founder and Chairman of MB Holding group of companies - and prominent alumnus of Heriot-Watt University - to engage with graduate and postgraduate students from the School of Engineering and the School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure & Society (EGIS).
After the forum, Heriot-Watt University Dubai Campus and MB Holding Group announced the establishment of a PhD scholarship programme. MB Holding Group will promote the scholarship in Oman and host two of best PhD research students from Heriot-Watt University’s School of Engineering and the School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure & Society. The selected Omani students will begin their scholarships by September.

Dr. Mohammed Al Barwani was awarded a Master’s Degree and PhD in Petroleum Engineering from Heriot-Watt University, UK. In 1986, Dr. Al Barwani founded MB Petroleum Services, and went on to found Marwarid Mining in 1987 and Petrogas in 1999.
