This week Heriot-Watt University hosted a group of 30 delegates from Kazakhstan, in an event designed to enable the visitors to explore current developments and good practice in UK universities in relation to research.
This was great opportunity to showcase Heriot-Watt’s excellence in research to representatives from a country currently trying to develop its Higher Education system and Universities.
The visit was organised by The Leadership Foundation for Higher Education, in conjunction with the Government of Kazakhstan and the Nazarbayev University Graduate School of Education. The group was comprised of Professors and Departmental Heads from a range of Kazakh universities, who were treated to presentations on subjects including Research Strategy, Funding and Research Management as well as a campus tour.
The presentations were led by Dr. Tony Weir, Deputy Director of Research and Enterprise services who said, “This was great opportunity to showcase Heriot-Watt’s excellence in research to representatives from a country currently trying to develop its Higher Education system and Universities.
"The fact that they would choose Heriot-Watt as an example of best practice in this area is particularly pleasing. Hopefully this visit will act as a catalyst in fostering partnerships for Heriot-Watt in one of the world’s fastest growing economies.”
