Heriot-Watt University Malaysia (HWUM) has celebrated its third Anniversary.

To be able to say that we now have more than 1,000 students on campus lends confidence that we are heading in the right direction.

The 140 staff members celebrated with a short ceremony and a special cake marking the campus’ journey from humble beginnings back in 2012. The anniversary is also marks another significant milestone for the University, with more than 1,000 students currently studying at its campus at Putrajaya.

HWUM CEO and Provost Professor Robert Craik said a great deal has been achieved since Heriot-Watt won a bid at the invitation of the Ministry of Education to establish a university in Putrajaya. “By 2013, we had only about 20 staff members, and 100 students. To be able to say that we now have more than 1,000 students on campus is not only gratifying but also lends a considerable amount of confidence that we are heading in the right direction.”

Professor Craik also conveyed his heart-felt thanks to staff members who have made it possible for the University to grow as fast as it has over the past three years, and looked to future growth and opportunities.
