Heriot-Watt has won a Gold Award for its collection of Postgraduate Prospectuses at the annual Heist Awards for Education Marketing.
We presented and profiled real academics, their work and the ‘impact’ it was making in the real world.
The internationally recognised Awards have evolved over more than twenty years to become the premier awards programme for marketing in the further and higher education sectors. Over those years they have seen and recognised a vast change in the work that marketing functions perform and the Awards have also moved with the times to reflect this, with categories reviewed annually.
Heriot-Watt’s Postgraduate Experience 2014 was named as Gold award winner for best Postgraduate Prospectus.
The Judges commented that the suite of prospectuses demonstrated ‘’Clear ambition and a strong emphasis on customer needs. Some great results in terms of increased applications.’’
Fiona Scott, Heriot-Watt’s Publications Officer, who project managed the process of moving from one single prospectus to a series of individual booklets tailored to each specialist School, under the umbrella positioning of ‘Influencing tomorrow’s world’, said, “Our research showed that Postgraduate students are influenced and inspired by the credentials and specialisms of those academic staff with whom they might study. That insight, along with Heriot-Watt’s globally recognised positioning as research impact-driven and strongly connected with industry, underpinned a design concept where we presented and profiled real academics, their work and the ‘impact’ it was making in the real world.
“It was a very collaborative project involving School academics, students and Marketing Officers, as well as colleagues in Media Services, Recruitment, Development and Alumni and the Marketing and Communications team. It is testimony to that teamwork that the University has been awarded this prestigious recognition.”
