Heriot-Watt University Dubai Campus brought together more than 90 students from 14 high schools across the UAE to participate in the 2015 Computer Programme Challenge.
33 teams took part in a series of challenges, organised by the School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences, to test their skills as well as increase their awareness, interest and enthusiasm around the subject of computer programming.
Steve Gill, Academic Head of the School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences at Heriot-Watt Dubai Campus, said, “It was fantastic to feel the energy and enthusiasm as these students took on the challenges we set.
“Understanding the power behind computer science is an important way of showing the ways in which these techniques and the knowledge gained can be used in creative ways that create functional, intuitive and fun programmes for a range of uses.”
Winners of the 2015 Challenge
- First place: Group Infinite Loop from The English College School , Student: Ryan Miranda, Dillon Pinot, Mathew Carlyon
- Second Place: Dubai American Academy School, Students: Aush Arvind & Amol Sharma
- Third Place: Group Techmaniacs from Gems Modern Academy School, Students: Aditya Sajan, Darryl Jacob & Shalman Norowha
