Dubai Campus launches Computer Programming Challenge

Heriot-Watt University Dubai Campus brought together more than 90 students from 14 high schools across the UAE to participate in the 2015 Computer Programme Challenge.

33 teams took part in a series of challenges, organised by the School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences, to test their skills as well as increase their awareness, interest and enthusiasm around the subject of computer programming.

Steve Gill, Academic Head of the School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences at Heriot-Watt Dubai Campus, said, “It was fantastic to feel the energy and enthusiasm as these students took on the challenges we set.

“Understanding the power behind computer science is an important way of showing the ways in which these techniques and the knowledge gained can be used in creative ways that create functional, intuitive and fun programmes for a range of uses.”
