Students vote Heriot-Watt top in Scotland across seven subjects

Heriot-Watt University has come top in Scotland for 7 out of its 17 subjects in the 2014 National Student Survey (NSS) and top in the UK for two.

Chemical Engineering at Heriot-Watt is ranked top in the UK for the fifth year running, while Electrical Engineering rose to also rank first, based on student satisfaction. Both subjects received a 100% satisfaction rating.

The University is ranked first in Scotland for Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, Accounting, Economics, Planning and Civil Engineering. It also came second in another four subjects: Mechanical Engineering, Physics, European Languages and Building.

With four out of five of its students responding to the survey, Heriot-Watt has the highest response rate of any Scottish university. Of those who responded an average of 82% of students said they were satisfied overall with experience at Heriot-Watt, placing it third in Scotland and 39th in the UK, out of a total of 124 institutions taking part.
