Society of Petroleum Engineers PetroBowl XIII competition, Amsterdam

The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) holds the annual Petrobowl Quiz competition where university teams from around the world are challenged to answer both technical and non-technical questions associated with the oil and gas industry. The event was first held in 2002 and has since grown in size and popularity.

This year, for the first time, the SPE Heriot-Watt University Student Chapter (SPEHWUSC) successfully went through from the initial selection process to participate and compete with 35 other teams in the Petrobowl XIII International Final which took place October 27, 2014 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

The SPEHWUSC team of five representing the university in this prestigious competition was 3 Masters students (Saad Zaheer, Abdul Hamid, Charles Adautin) and two PhD students (Alexandra Kuznetsova and Junko Hutahaean), all studying in the Institute of Petroleum Engineering (IPE).
