The School of Textiles and Design at the Dubai Campus has organised a three-day induction programme for first year students of BA Fashion and BA Fashion Marketing & Retailing.
Students were asked to engage in a design reconstruction project which involved de-constructing
a man's 2XL shirt, and reconstructing it into a ladies dress. All parts of the dress were hand sewn including the zip. This was quite a challenging task for students that had not had any prior sewing or designing experience.
They were guided to their final creations by Assistant Professor Dilip Kumar Mothiram and Kayelvizhi Ramesh.
Students were able to meet other members of their cohort and the event became a really valuable ice-breaker for the Fresher's. The success of the event was only surpassed by the amount of creativity shown by the novice students.
