The November graduation ceremonies have been held at the University's Edinburgh Campus and at the Dubai Campus.
The Principal joined graduands families in congratulating them on their achievements, and honorary degrees were awarded to the following recipients:
Sue Bruce, Chief Executive, The City of Edinburgh Council, was awarded a Doctorate of the University in recognition of her distinguished record of public service to Scotland.
Ceri Powell, Global Head of Exploration, Royal Dutch Shell, was awarded a Doctorate of Science in recognition of her exceptional contribution to, and leadership of, oil industry exploration and business development.
Alan Barclay, Governance Director Europe Supply, Diageo, was awarded a Doctorate of Science in recognition of his exceptional contribution to scholarly advancements in, and the economic success of, the malting, brewing and distilling industries.
Freya Ross, Scottish Long Distance Runner, was awarded a Doctorate of the University in recognition of her services to, and achievement of excellence in, the sport of distance running.
Ragnar Norberg, Laboratoire SAF, University of Lyon, was awarded a Doctorate of Science in recognition of his internationally leading and influential contribution to advancements in the study and application of actuarial mathematics and statistics.
Kate Mavor, Chief Executive, The National Trust for Scotland, was awarded a Doctorate of the University in recognition of her exceptional contribution to the promotion and preservation of Scotland's environmental heritage and to developments in the community volunteer movement.
Dubai Campus
At the Dubai graduation ceremony Uwe Krueger, Chief Executive Officer WS Atkins plc, was awarded a Doctorate of the University in recognition of his exemplary entrepreneurial leadership and for his contributions to the application of science, engineering and technology to business and industry across the globe.
They followed an earlier ceremony in Moscow, and further graduation ceremonies will be held in Malaysia, Singapore and Hong Kong between now and early December.
