The following honorary degrees were awarded at the University's summer graduation ceremonies:
Matthew Fox, Executive Vice President, Exploration and Production of ConocoPhillips Company, Houston USA, was awarded a Doctorate of Engineering in recognition of his leadership and outstanding service to the international oil and gas industry over the course of a long and distinguished career.
Gordon Ballard, Chairman of Schlumberger UK Ltd, London, was awarded a Doctorate of Engineering in recognition of his leading and influential contribution, through the course of a distinguished career, to advancements within the international oil and gas industry.
Liu Zhenwu, Senior Advisor of CNPC, Beijing, was awarded a Doctorate of Engineering in recognition of his exceptional contribution to leadership and advances in research and technology innovation in the oil and gas industry.
Louise Martin CBE, Chair of Sportscotland, Glasgow, was awarded a Doctorate of the University in recognition of her outstanding leading contribution to the advancement and promotion of sport.
Sean Tompkins, Chief Executive Officer of RICS, London, was awarded a Doctorate of Engineering in recognition of his leadership and exceptional and influential contribution to the advancement of surveying standards internationally.
Stuart Monro OBE, Scientific Director of Our Dynamic Earth, Edinburgh, was awarded a Doctorate of Science in recognition of his exceptional contribution to the advancement of knowledge in the field of Geology and promotion of public engagements with and greater understanding of earth sciences.
Judith McClure CBE, Founder and Convenor of SCEN, Edinburgh, was awarded a Doctorate of the University in recognition of services to education in Scotland and internationally, and for her exceptional contribution to the governance of Heriot-Watt University.
Martin Gilbert, Chief Executive of Aberdeen Asset Management, Aberdeen, was awarded a Doctorate of Letters In recognition of his pre-eminence and contributions to entrepreneurship and knowledge exchange in the field of investments management.
Trevor Garlick, Regional President of BP North Sea, BP Exploration Operating Company Ltd, Aberdeen, was awarded a Doctorate of Engineering in recognition of his leading and influential contribution, through the course of a distinguished career, to advancements within the international oil and gas industry.
