Heriot-Watt athletes are among the medal hopes for Team Scotland's Aquatics team at this year's Commonwealth Games. Kathryn Johnstone, a year BSc Sport and Exercise Science scholar, has been selected to compete at Glasgow 2014 following qualification heats at the Scottish Championships earlier this month. The heats took place held at the Games' competition venue - Tollcross International Swimming Centre.
Kathryn achieved the nomination standard for both the 50m and 100m breaststroke. This will be her second Commonwealth Games, with the added excitement of competing on home soil this year, where she hopes to gain a medal.
Also qualifying was another Heriot-Watt student, Craig McNally.
Aquatics is one of ten core sports at the Commonwealth Games and one of the most competitive. Scotland has won a total of 73 medals in aquatics (including 20 gold), at the Games, more than any other sport.
