Dr Alan Forster, from Heriot-Watt's School of the Built Environment, has become a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
Fellowships are awarded to those applicants who hold very responsible positions in their chosen field and have brought distinction to construction. Applications are assessed by a panel of CIOB Fellows. It is the highest class of membership in the CIOB.
Dr Forster is Assistant Professor in Building Conservation and Construction Technology. His research interests are low carbon building materials and sustainable and traditional construction technologies; the impact of climate change on existing buildings and building resilience; and 'green' maintenance and sensitive building conservation interventions. He is also a been the recipient of research fellowships including the Sir Edmund Happold Senior Visiting Research Fellowship at the University of Bath in 2011, and the Royal Society of Edinburgh Bilateral exchange programme visiting Research Fellowship awarded in collaboration with the Academy of Sciences for the Czech Republic in 2014.
