Dr Florian Doster, Assistant Professor (Global Platform for Research Leaders Program) with the Institute of Petroleum Engineering (IPE), has returned from an extensive trip to the USA. He delivered his "Towards A Consistent Theoretical Framework for Multiphase Flow in Porous Media" keynote lecture at the biennial Gordon Research Conference (GRC) on "Flow & Transport in Permeable Media", held 6-11 July 2014, Lewiston, Maine.

While in the States he was a panelist on post-PhD career tracks and visited the Princeton University to maintain joint research collaboration links, e.g. as part of a successful grant "Multiscale Modeling of CO2 Migration and Trapping in Fractured Reservoirs with Validation by Model Comparison and Real-Site Applications" from the US Department of Energy that has been awarded to a consortium led by Michael A. Celia, Princeton University and also includes Lawrence Berkley National Lab. Heriot-Watt University is represented through Sebastian Geiger and Florian Doster.
