A delegation from the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE), including its new president Peter Kinsella, visited Heriot-Watt University Dubai Campus to discuss how engineering degrees can be enhanced and to promote professional certification for engineers in the UAE.
The visit has been encouraging for Heriot-Watt University Dubai Campus and the department, which initiated discussions about possibilities of industry links, professional accreditation of the Architectural Engineering programme as well as more opportunities of graduate guidance for our students in becoming professionally qualified
The team from CIBSE was given a tour of the campus by Professor Ammar Kaka, Head of Dubai Campus, Dr. Olisanwendu Ogwuda, Director of Studies Civil Engineering & Architectural Engineering, along with other faculty members. The visit also included a round of discussions regarding student membership and potential collaboration between CIBSE and Heriot-Watt University Dubai Campus for the advancement of professional building services as well as ways to improve engineering career paths and overall development of the industry in the UAE.
Ways to further enhance Heriot-Watt University Dubai Campus's BEng(Hons) Architectural Engineering programme to mould students for careers in sustainable, low-energy building design and operations closely aligned to the building services engineering industry were also discussed.
