On Friday 5 December, third year Civil Engineering students were awarded certificates from leading traffic microsimulation company SIAS Transport Planners for successfully completing a microsimulation exercise as part of the Transportation Engineering A course.
It was really good to see our emerging engineers applying their skills enthusiastically using the latest industry available software.
Robert Allan, the Senior Transportation Engineer at SIAS Transport Planners who delivered the training, said: "It was really good to see our emerging engineers applying their skills enthusiastically using the latest industry available software. The students really did show a great attitude towards all that was thrown at them. Very encouraging indeed."
Dr Guy Walker, the course leader for Transportation Engineering A, said: "The course is focussed on the professional realities of transportation and microsimulation is a major part of that. The involvement of an Edinburgh-based company who happen to be world leaders in this area means we can offer a teaching experience informed by the very latest industrial practice".
