Tom Jones, EngD Postgraduate student working with Professor Marc Desmulliez at the Institute of Sensors, Signals and Systems, won a prestigious award and a £250 cash prize from the Institute of Circuit Technology (ICT).
The competition is open to all young students under the age of 30 for the best research article related to Printed Circuit Board (PCB) manufacture.
Tom, who works in collaboration with the PCB company Merlin Circuit Technology Ltd, wrote the article entitled "Implementing a new surface pre-treatment process in the PCB industry using ultrasonic agitation". The paper stated some of the issues encountered in attempting to instigate a new manufacturing technology relevant to Merlin. The article will be published in one of the ICT journals.
