AAPG (Middle-East) President visit to Dubai Campus

Mr. Sa'id Al-Hajri, American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) Middle East President accompanied by Ms. Abeer Zubaidi, AAPG Middle-East Director, visited Heriot-Watt University's Dubai Campus to deliver a talk to the MSc Petroleum Engineering students, on the 6th February 2014.

Mr Al-Hajri presented an introduction to the origins of the petroleum engineering; including the four pillars of petroleum engineering critical to the growth of the petroleum sector.

He stressed the real importance of engagement by young graduates already actively participating in the field of geology.

Students were made aware of the various advantages of becoming a member of an AAPG Student Chapter particularly of benefit is access to AAPG online journals and papers, an invaluable resource to support study and research.

The presentation was followed by a question and answer session which served to consolidate understanding about the petroleum sector and the relevance of the AAPG organisation.

The guests were awarded a Certificate of Appreciation from the students.
