Dr Shuning Dong and Dr Zhijun Shi from Xi'an Research Institute of China Coal Technology & Engineering Group Corp., delivered a talk about the current status of coal bed methane (CBM) in China. The talk, which included case studies, was followed by discussion and information exchange on CBM studies.
China is the world's largest coal producer and consumer. Their coal bed methane resources are estimated to be twice those of the U.S.
The research in the Xi'an Research Institute is mainly focused on new technology for coal exploration, including the exploitation of coal bed methane and coal mine methane (CMM).
Dr Shi is the Chief Engineer and Dr Dong is the Head of Xi'an Research Institute of China Coal Technology & Engineering Group Corporation.
