Heriot-Watt graduate heads Top 30 Under 30 Actuarial Professionals list

Heriot-Watt graduate Kevin Pendleton (BSc in Actuarial Science 2012) has secured the top spot in the 2013 Top 30 Under 30 actuaries.

Whilst studying at Heriot-Watt I enjoyed the way I could apply mathematical concepts to real life situations and I increasingly became more aware of what was going on in the financial world. It appeared to be an interesting, constantly evolving industry and one that I wanted to be part of

The list, presented by the Actuarial Post magazine, features the top 30 under 30 actuarial professionals from around the globe. With over 1,000 votes, each nominee has been voted for by their peers in celebration of their achievements.

Kevin, who works as an actuarial trainee at Standard Life, commented his time at Heriot-Watt:  "Whilst studying at Heriot-Watt I enjoyed the way I could apply mathematical concepts to real life situations and I increasingly became more aware of what was going on in the financial world. It appeared to be an interesting, constantly evolving industry and one that I wanted to be part of."

Christian Shanahan CEO of actuarial recruiter VISIR and sponsor of this year's list said:  "Congratulations to Kevin Pendleton working at Standard Life who secured the top spot. As specialist recruiters in the Actuarial sector we are proud to be associated with this award which recognises the achievements and commitment of some of the best young actuaries within the industry. The Top 30 under 30 is a hotly contested category and these young professionals should be extremely proud to have been voted for by their peers in recognition of their hard work.'
