Dubai students chosen as finalists for the Big Start competition

Heriot-Watt students Bhavik Bhatia and Basel Kurdi have successfully won places in the next round of the Big Start entrepreneurial competition.

The Big Start is an annual event which aims to encourage entrepreneurship and is open to all final year undergraduate students currently studying in the UAE. The initiative focuses on creating opportunity for students and the development of core business skills.

Bhavik and Basel are now two of only 25 students selected from 289 applications across the UAE. The chosen entrepreneurs are now one step closer to get full funding to set up their own business.

The finalists attended  a Business Plan Workshop on Saturday 27th April and a mentoring session with the senior management team of Al Tamimi Investments, main sponsor of the project.

The third round will take place in June and will decide which students go on to present their business ideas to a judging panel.

The winner will be announced early July at The Big Start Awards Ceremony.
