Heriot-Watt University has signed research collaborations with two of the top universities in Brazil, the University of São Paulo, and the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP).
The agreements were signed by representatives of the two universities and by Professor Alan Miller, Deputy Principal (Research & Knowledge Transfer), who was leading a delegation including Dr Patricia Vargas, of the School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences, and Professor Patrick Corbett, currently BG Professor at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).
The agreements lay the foundation for academic cooperation in areas of mutual interest and expertise, with particular focus on engineering, robotics and energy. A further agreement is being prepared with UFRJ.
As well as signing the agreements the Heriot-Watt delegation toured key research areas of the University of Sao Paolo and UNICAMP, and hosted an information session at UNICAMP about Heriot-Watt and its exchange programmes.
