School of Management and Languages demonstrates best practice for Police interpreting

Researchers from the Department of Languages and Intercultural Studies in the School of Management & Languages are at present producing a short film to demonstrate best practice in Police Interpreting for the IMPLI (Improving Police and Legal Interpreting) project. The aims of this project are to create better understanding of the interviewing techniques developed by the police and thus enhance training methods for interpreters. The project also aims to enhance awareness amongst the police about how these techniques can assist them in their work when properly implemented.

The film will show parts of witness, victim and suspect interviews, and it will be filmed at the Heriot-Watt Health Centre as well as appropriately modified School premises .
