Converge Challenge provides potential entrepreneurial spirits in Scottish Universities with an exciting opportunity to give their business idea a head start.
Michael Russell, Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning"Encouraging entrepreneurs is encouraging the economy" said Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning, Michael Russell MSP, who has endorsed the Scotland-wide opportunity, available to all Scottish final year undergraduates, postgraduates and research staff, as well as all research institutes.
"Converge Challenge provides potential entrepreneurial spirits in Scottish Universities with an exciting opportunity to give their business idea a head start. The business mentorship and hands-on training on offer can help to create new business leaders whose products and services will help Scotland's economy grow and prosper."
A unique opportunity for entrepreneurs
Converge Challenge was initiated by Heriot-Watt University in 2010 with funding from the European Regional Development Fund. Since then has become a trailblazer in its field of seeking out and supporting budding entrepreneurs.
Enterprise Creation Manager at Heriot-Watt University, Dr Olga Kozlova, added "Converge Challenge exists to offer support, guidance and, ultimately, £25,000 cash to a promising business idea which might not otherwise be taken to market.
The programme aims to lay the foundations that will help them start and grow their business. By encouraging applications from every Scottish University and Research Institute, we can help ensure as many people as possible have the amazing opportunity to start up their own company."
