The World is Not Enough Kim Winser tells Scottish Textile Industry

Leading industry expert and Heriot-Watt Honorary Graduate, Dr Kim Winser was the key speaker at the Scottish Borders Design and Technology Showcase on Thursday 28 June at the School of Textiles and Design.

Dr Winser discussed the opportunities that lie within a company's DNA and archive.

A collaboration between the School of Textiles and Design and industry body, South of Scotland Business Solutions (SoSBS), the event was aimed at engagging industry in knowledge exchange and innovative development across the design, medical and technical textile sectors.

An interactive presentation showcased design and technology within the School of Textiles & design, focusing on research and knowledge exchange projects, industry interventions supported by SoSBS and collaborations with the Scottish Academy of Fashion.

Projects include; thermo-regulated clothing, waste elimination, Psycho, Nano and SMART textiles, and an innovative multi-media archive developed in partnership with Johnstons of Elgin.

The showcase and an accompanying book to be published in autumn are also supported by SoSBS and funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Scottish Funding Council.
