Ross Donaldson, a fourth year Heriot-Watt Physics was awarded the Best Presentation prize at the International Physics Conference held in Budapest.
Ross beat 101 international under graduate and postgraduate physics students to win the award for his talk on Quantum Key Distribution. Student Ross says: "We were given 15 minutes to present and then had three minutes to answer questions by the audience. My presentation was packed full of well over 120 students meaning some had to sit on the stairs. I made my presentation more interactive and at a more understandable level than the other students which is why I think I won."
As well as winning the best presentation award Ross also won the hosting of the conference in 2013, meaning it will be held at Heriot-Watt, bringing more than 450 students to the University's Edinburgh Campus in August 2013.
