New Director of Human Resources announced

Mark Adderley has been announced as Heriot-Watt's new Director of Human Resources. He will take up his post on 24 October 2011.

Mark comes to Heriot-Watt University from his current position as Executive Director for People and Organisational Development at NHS Ayrshire and Arran, and a member of Ayrshire and Arran NHS Board, a ministerial appointment.

Mark has worked in the public, not-for-profit and private sectors. He is a former Chief Executive of the National Trust for Scotland, where he modernised and improved services; and as Human Resources and Business Services Director for Scottish Water, Mark was part of the Executive team tasked with merging three water authorities into one.

Welcoming the appointment, Ann Marie Dalton, Secretary of the University, said: "I am delighted that we have recruited someone of Mark Adderley's expertise and experience. We welcome the particular strengths and experience which he will bring to our team. His appointment will stand the University in good stead in delivering our ambitious plans for the future and addressing the challenges we face."
