A project led and co-ordinated by Helen Hastie, a lecturer in Computer Science in the School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences, has received an EC FP7 research award worth over €3 million.
The project is called 'PARLANCE' and aims to investigate interactive search working in partnership with the Universities of Cambridge and Geneva, and companies Yahoo!, Iberia, Centrale Research S.A. and Isoco S.A.
The €3,625,000 award is shared among the six partners with Heriot-Watt University benefiting to the tune of €841,000.
Helen said: "This is an exciting new collaboration with the goal of providing interactive search through speech using local information in English, Spanish and Mandarin"
