Heriot-Watt University Honorary Graduates, November 2011

Politicians, the Team Principal of the Mercedes GP PETRONAS Formula One team, and the Chief Executive of the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce were among those awarded honorary degrees at Heriot-Watt University at ceremonies in November 2011.

Mr Nils-Odd Tonnevold

Mr Nils-Odd Tonnevold, Connectum Family Wealth Management, was awarded a Doctorate of Letters in recognition of his outstanding entrepreneurial achievement and leadership in the field of investment management and his philanthropic work as an inspirational role model for individuals overcoming disability.

Lord O'Neill of Clackmannan

Lord O'Neill of Clackmannan was awarded a Doctorate of Letters in recognition of his distinguished political career and outstanding service to national public life, science and technology.

Sir Thomas Dalyell Loch

Sir Thomas Dalyell Loch was awarded a Doctorate of Letters in recognition of his distinguished political career and outstanding contribution to the promotion of public engagement with science and technology.

Mr Ron Hewitt

Mr Ron Hewitt, Chief Executive, Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce, was awarded a Doctorate of Letters in recognition of his outstanding contribution to the development of Scotland's economic wealth including, through his leadership of the Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce, advancement of the reputation of the city of Edinburgh as a leading centre for enterprise and investment.

Professor Cliff Beevers OBE, Professor Emeritus Heriot-Watt University, was awarded a Doctorate of Science in recognition of his significant contribution to mathematics education and the development of innovative computer-based learning and assessment, and excellence as an ambassador for Heriot-Watt University.
