Dr Dorte Rich Jørgensen has been appointed Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor in Innovation in the School of the Built Environment, for a term of four years, commencing 1 October 2011.
Dr Jørgensen will work with the staff of the Architectural Engineering and Civil Engineering disciplines within the School, undertaking a series of lectures, seminars and tutorials as well as contributing to curriculum development and the enhancement of teaching practice to support innovation.
Dr Jørgensen, who works as a Principal Sustainability Engineer for Atkins in London, currently acts as the sustainability manager for the Atkins infrastructure design team on the Olympic Park site in East London. Dr Jørgensen is also a member of the leading Built Environment think-tank 'EDGE', and is the CIBSE representative on the Construction Industry Council diversity panel.
Dr Jørgensen has more than 20 years' experience of successfully integrating sustainable principles into built environment and infrastructure schemes on a range of cutting-edge and award-winning projects, and brings a unique practice-based perspective to the School's undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
