Professor Paul Jowitt
Professor Paul Jowitt of the School of the Built Environment received a CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours.
Professor Jowitt, Director of the Scottish Institute of Sustainable Technology (SISTech) and the 2009 / 2010 President of the Institution of Civil Engineers, was given the award for services to Technology.
Professor Jowitt said: "I am delighted by the award of a CBE and a bit overwhelmed by the number of people who have sent me their congratulations.
"I have been very lucky that through Heriot Watt University and the Institution of Civil Engineers, I have had the chance to champion areas such as sustainability and international development.
"I could never have done this without the support of many colleagues and friends, and I am very grateful for all their help in pushing these areas forward. But there is still much to do if we really want to make a difference."
