Calum takes gold at Karate Championships

Heriot-Watt PhD student, Calum Robb, won a gold medal at the European Universities Karate Championships in Bosnia. Calum was competing as part of the British Universities and College Sports (BUCS) team.

Calum won gold in the Heavyweight category, was Captain of the BUCS Squad and was also given the additional role of Assistant Coach for these Championships.

It was a very successful Championships for the BUCS Squad. English fighter Alice Goudie also won the Gold Medal in the Female 61kgs category, enabling the squad to claim 5th position on the Medal Table.

Calum (26) who is a PhD student from the School of Life Sciences, is a Sports Scholar at Heriot-Watt and is part of the Winning Students Programme. The  Sports Scholars programme offers support to athletes whilst studying at the University. It is supported by the Sports Union, in partnership with the  Centre for Sport & Exercise and the Alumni Fund.
